And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. There are a lot of terrible things written by Alito in the decision-like characterizing pro-choice supporters as eugenicists-but here's just a taste: Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Alito comes off as an absolute turd: The decision would rule in favor Mississippi, which attempted to ban most abortions after 15 weeks, and overturn a ruling made by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.
